The Story of Electronics – Designed for the Dump
This is a sequel to “The Story of Stuff” from Annie Leonard: “The Story of Electronics: Why Designed for the Dump is Toxic for People and the Planet”
Nowadays the electronic gadgets are not as reliable, sturdy as in the old days. Digital cameras, cellular phones or laptops are not made to be last for long. They are made to be replaced within three or two years, or even less.
One example I can think of is my MacBook Pro, which broke down just after 2.5 years. And my first laptop (Fujitsu), which was bought in March in 2002, is still running without problems (except that the LCD screen is dimmer).
