Easy Sharing Libraries through Zotero 2.0 Beta

May 15, 2009

A big jump from 1.5x beta. The new Zotero 2.0 presents the long-anticipated ability to collaborate in groups (public or private). This is very convenient for people who need to share collections in a class or to work closely with few colleagues on a project. Or, just keep up with other people in the same institution or department.

There are two ways to interact with groups:

  • Through Firefox Add-on: You can set up separate libraries for different groups inside Group Libraries
  • Through the website: Each group has its own web page.

Check out the detailed features of 2.0 beta here. My upgrade from 1.5 beta to 2.0 beta didn’t encounter any problem.

Have you checked out Archivd? Their collaborative features seem to be more integral and easier to use than Zotero’s.

Thanks for the comment. No, but I did check “Archivd” as you mentioned it. From the demo, I don’t see how it can be better than what Zotero offers. Besides, it’s not free (30-day free trial). 😐
