Violinist Shaham Won Avery Fisher Prize

Near the end of Gil Shaham’s concert at the Lincoln Center on Nov. 20, 2008, conductor Gustavo Dudamel came on the stage to surprise Shaham with the news of Avery Fisher Prize.

Listen to the interview by NPR afterwards, where Shaham talked about how he felt about the prize and the music by Sarasate (died 100 years ago).
