gPC for $200 (without a Monitor)

November 2, 2007

No need to pay Windows Tax. For $200, you can get a computer gPC TC2502 with 1.5 GHz Via Processor, 512 MB RAM, and an 80 GB hard drive. The operating system is GOS, a modified version of Linux specialized for Google applications. If you don’t like Google Documents, you can use OpenOffice suite instead.

If you take your computer around, you can check out Eee PC (or my previous post; there are already many reviews in Chinese), which also uses Xandors Linux (based on Debain) as its OS. Or, just carry a USB thumb drive with this portable suite and plug in any PC.

gPC is available at Walt-Mart. (via New York Times)
