Movie: Vitus

May 30, 2007

Vitus

Just found this trailer in Apple site. This movie was Switzerland’s official 2006 Academy Awards entry for Best Foreign Language Film. After Vitus’s talent was discovered, the parents of this highly-gifted boy had set out the life plane for their son — to become a pianist. The 12-yea-old Vitus was played by real-life piano prodigy Teo Gheorghiu.

This reminds me of Argerich, who hated practicing piano when she was little. 🙂 The film will be released theatrically in US on June 29 (Oops, the same day as Ratatouille). Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing this.

EDIT: Movie review in New York Times, “The Keys to Success” (Jun. 28, 2007)
