DVD: The Long Good Friday
Last night I watched “The Long Good Friday” (1980) (special edition) DVD.
Plot Summary from IMDB:
Harold, a prosperous English gangster, is about to close a lucrative new deal when bombs start showing up in very inconvenient places. A mysterious syndicate is trying to muscle in on his action, and Harold wants to know who they are. ..
If you like gangster movie or thriller, you would enjoy watching this one. The movie starts with a series of fast clips without dialogs. But the story already starts.
Some dialogs are brilliant, even though I don’t know some of their slangs (fortunately, DVD’s extras include “Cockney slang glossery”). Some I like are (no spoiler) like (from my memory):
- Harold: Anyone noticed anything unusual?
Others: nothing. Harold: Someone must see something. Heard something. If no one notices anything, that’s unusual.
(PS: the quotes in IMDB contain spoilers)
The DVD also includes the script in pdf.
The video and audio qualities are not very good but acceptable.
