Gmail’s Canned Responses as a Time Saver
March 7, 2009

Combining Gmail’s canned responses with smart filters, you can auto-response to certain group of people, or emails with certain keywords. This is different from the vacation responder, which auto-reply to all emails. You may not want some people to know that you’re in the vacation.
Steps:
- Enable the canned responses in Settings/Labs/
- Write an email in Draft mode and save it as a canned response
- Create a filter. Check the option for “Send Canned Response” and choose the template you want to be sent.
You can also use the Canned Responses feature for different HTML signatures. Check this guide. Alternatively, you can use this Firefox add-on, Gmail Signatures, which can “automatically inserts HTML signatures into your Gmail messages based on which address you are sending from”
