In 1993, and as an unemployed amateur, Obree broke the world one-hour record on a bike of his own revolutionary design, which he constructed out of scrap metal and parts of a washing machine
I watched this movie few days ago, and quite enjoyed by it.
Highly recommended for cycling fans. For non-cycling fans, it’s still a good entertainment.
Some of accounts, of course, have been fictionalized for the dramatic effect, but those bizarre things you think in the film are those that are true, as Jonny Lee Miller discussed this in an interview. As for the bans from UCI (mentioned as WCF in the movie), you can see how ridiculous and bureaucratic these organizations can be.
